Conceptual Plan

Here is the latest Conceptual Plan, as of December 2, 2010.

Lafayette Park Renovation Project

Picture

In 2008, the voters of San Francisco passed the Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond to fund renovations in our parks throughout the city.  Lafayette Park was one of thirteen city parks selected for inclusion in the program and will receive $10M in funds for park improvements. Friends of Lafayette Park is working with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, the Neighborhood Parks Council, and San Francisco Parks Trust to increase and coordinate public participation in the process. As part of this effort, several public meetings have taken place, including three official public input meetings and other town hall meetings for specific interest groups in preparation for the public input meetings. On
December 16th, the SF Rec & Parks Commission unanimously approved the Lafayette Park Conceptual Plan. We want to thank all of you who participated in the multiple community input meetings, and who showed support either via letters or by appearing at the hearing. With all of your help, we now have a wonderful park plan. We promise to keep you posted on future events and new information as we continue in the process.

Friends of Lafayette Park Playground Committee is working to raise $100,000 from the community to leverage bond funds and build a unique, nature-themed playground that will enhance the beauty of the park and  encourage healthy and creative play for years to come.

So far we’ve raised over $475,000 to fund design and construction, and need just $100,000 to reach our goal. With a gift of $2,000 or more, you will receive a permanent paver or bronze placque on the plaza by the playground! Please make your donation today and help us meet our goal by May 31, 2012. More information is available on our  playground donation page.
